It's been a busy week, fellas...but I finaled the animation of my short film to Universal, delivered boards on an indie short film I'm directing had and a family funeral to prepare for...and had to find a way to fly my son home who was on a road trip with friends! Whew! But I finally knocked out a panel (sorry I'm a day late)!

For those that know my work, I'm always pushing personality and individual character. So, while my panel doesn't advance the story (which has gotten very fun to read, btw!), I thought it might be fun if one of the Death Rangers was literal to a fault. He's like the kid in driving school who says, "but what if everyone gets to the four way stop at the same time?" It's not so much that he's a wise guy, but just a little dim and needs everything spelled out.

Thanks, man!

This Death Ranger reminds me of the Storm Trooper in Star Wars that asks another if the alert is "...just another drill." It humanized him as a guy who just happens to be a soldier.

yeah, I'm a big fan of having more little panels like this.

"Moving the story along" is what all of the panels do TOGETHER, expecting a plot twist or cliffhanger in each individual panel is ridiculous. We can't be afraid to spend a page or two on a single scene every once in a while.

I totally agree, Matt. My panel is just more conversation between the guys. I could almost see these guys taking over as the main characters, haha. Since they've got each other, there can be lots of banter and character development (even without seeing their faces, which I love). How great would it be to see these guys, all identical, and know who was who by how they talked?

That's the fun of the whole thing though, right? It can go anywhere.

Mike, that's what acting is all about, right? The fun is in watching characters run around and do things, not simply to watch and read "stuff happening."

That was my big problem with Green Lantern. How could they have forgotten a scene where Hal figures out how cool it is to have a power ring. It's not enough to show people simply doing things, we have to know how they feel about it to care.

...oh, and sorry for fucking up the shoulder pads. They look like big scraps of metal in my drawing...I don't know what I was thinking.

Thank goodness I'm not Japanese or I'd have to kill myself for bringing dishonor upon myself and family.

I'd worry more about the misspelling than the shoulder pads. ;-) Check out "disintegrations"

Hahahah...OK...I'll fix later today.

That's awesome. It brings that Kevin Smith level of humanizing into the picture, which is what any great story really needs.

I'll get my panel up later today. I've got to finish a page first that's taking longer than expected.

That's a helluva year, Chris, let alone a week. This is awesome. I'm stoked to see what these Death Rangers bring. I assume it's death.
